It was far from groundbreaking but the first Inbetweeners film did at least raise a few decent titters. Now the trailer for the film’s long anticipated sequel has appeared online and the makers “promise” that none of the best jokes are in it – check it out below:

The film reaches UK cinemas on the 6th August.

Foxcatcher – trailer

I saw the first trailer for a new movie starring Steve Carell, Channing Tatum, Mark Ruffalo and Vanessa Redgrave tonight. ‘Foxcatcher‘ is based on the true story of Mark Schultz, an Olympic wrestler whose relationship with mentor John du Pont and brother Dave Schultz leads to strange and unlikely circumstances.

It caught my attention as it’s Carell‘s first real ‘serious’ role and comes courtesy of Bennett Miller, the man behind Moneyball and Capote – which augers well. Check out the trailer below:

Foxcatcher, which debuted recently at Cannes Film Festival (and got a glowing write up from The Guardian‘s Peter Bradshaw) is released in the US on the 14th November – as yet it doesn’t have an official UK release date.

Teaser for Ryan Gosling’s directorial debut appears online

Posted in Film, Movies with tags , , , , , , , , , , on May 21, 2014 by dc

The minute long teaser for Ryan Gosling’s directorial debut, the Detroit set, Lost River appeared online over the weekend.

The bad news for Gosling fans is the film received a bit of a critical mauling last night at Cannes.

The Guardian’s Peter Bradshaw tweeted after seeing it, “If Ryan Gosling hadn’t been such a star actor, he’d never have been allowed to direct *stares into space, screams*.” Kate Muir from The Times didn’t care for it much either, tweeting, “Cripes. Ryan Gosling’s Lost River is a lurid mash up of Lynch, Refn and Edward Hopper. In a bad way.”

The film stars ex-Doctor Who Matt Smith, Christina Hendricks, Saoirse Ronan and Eva Mendes and is due in cinemas later this year – check out the rather odd trailer below:

Benny & Jolene is a new comedy from movie directing debutant Jamie Adams and it stars Charlotte Ritchie (from C4’s Fresh Meat), alongside Submarine star Craig Roberts.

In the film Ritchie plays Jolene, an up and coming folk singer. The music industry is trying to push her to become more commercial, but her writing partner Benny (Roberts) is firmly resistant. Check out the trailer below:

Benny & Jolene is released in UK cinemas on the 6th June.

A Most Wanted Man – trailer

Just over two months ago one of the best film actors of his generation, Philip Seymour Hoffman died. During his life Seymour Hoffman was ever prolific, starring in well over fifty movies and winning dozens of awards along the way and this June a new Seymour Hoffman film sees the light of day.

A Most Wanted Man is a thriller based on a novel by famous British writer, John le Carré and is directed by Anton Corbijn. In the film Seymour Hoffman plays Gunter Bachmann, a German spy who runs a counter-intelligence unit intent on infiltrating the Jihadist network involved in 9/11, and the film also stars Rachel McAdams, Robin Wright andWillem Defoe.

I really enjoyed Anton Corbijn‘s last feature (the George Clooney starring), The American, and by the looks of the trailer below (and the early reviews) this looks like being another good ‘un:

A Most Wanted Man gets a limited release in US cinemas on the 25th July – as yet there’s no scheduled UK release date.
