The Underachievers – May’s Patience – new tune

Back in February, Brooklyn hip-hop duo, The Underachievers released their excellent debut mixtape, Indigoism. Three and a half months on and it’s still getting plenty of plays round my gaff.

So, the news that a follow up mixtape titled, CHAPTER 23, is due next month is great news. May’s Patience is the first track to be released and it’s another good ‘un – check it out below (and download it here):

Mikal Cronin – Change – new video

Mikal Cronin‘s new album, MCII gets me feeling all early 90′s college/slacker rock nostalgic.

It’s much more than just a trip down nostalgia lane though. It transgresses it’s influences, and has enough hooks and intrigue to grab you on the first play and keep you coming back for further listens.

Here’s the new video for Change (the 6th tune on the album – fact fans) – MKII is out now:

Pond – Giant Tortoise – new video

Here’s an absolute stonker of a track from Australian psych-rockers, Pond. Giant Tortoise is definitely a step forward from last year’s slacker rock-esque, Beards, Wives, Denim album.

The band, who share a bassist with Tame Impala (and have a frequently changing line-up) have beefed up their sound and if this track is anything to go by now sound like the rather lovely missing link between Mercury Rev and Pink Floyd:

Giant Tortoise is taken from Pond‘s forthcoming album, Hobo Rocket (out 2nd August in Australia – 5th in UK – and 6th in the US).
