Lovely stuff.

See Henry Von Stifle live

If you up for a giggle in early May (don’t worry you don’t have to be up for one before then) you’d probably do a lot worse than dragging your arse down to The Miller Pub in London Bridge (if you don’t live in the UK, flights etc may make it an expensive evening – you’ve been warned). On the 10th May (starting at 8pm) the pub plays host to a cabaret of comedy, music and chicken. It’s £10 a ticket and has been organised to help launch London’s Paradigm Theatre Company.

The main reason to drag yourself down there is the comedic befuddlement of philanthropist, author, historian, raconteur, humanitarian and pimp, Henry Von Stifle.

If you’re London based and you’ve not seen him live yet he’s very funny (trust me) – check out a clip of him performing below:

Get the date in your diary (Thursday 10th May) and get ready for chuckles…

Trance guitar solo

Here’s a great Youtube clip a mate of mine spotted today. It dates back to April of last year and features ‘some dude’ playing a trance-like guitar solo – it’s a must-see for all you guitar-geeks out there:

Now that’s goooood…

Here’s a brilliant animated short called Chris Jumped Out Of A Plane:

The short was written and performed by Tim Key and directed and animated by Fraser Davidson. The ‘poem’ is taken from Tim Key With A String Quartet On A Boat album.

You can buy the album here.

For those who don’t already know, Death Grips are an experimental hip-hop three piece from Sacramento, California. They released an album called called Exmilitary last April and last month signed with Epic Records.

They’ve also recently announced plans to release two albums this year. The first is called, The Money Store, and is due for release on the 24th April. Check out the video for one of the album’s tunes, The Fever (Aye Aye) below:

Delightfully hectic stuff…

New Discovery – Zammuto

In late January, New York duo The Books confirmed that they had decided to call it a day after four albums.

Details were sketchy but the good news is that in the meantime, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist, Nick Zammuto (as just Zammuto) has decided to go it alone and has a new self-titled album out next week.

For those of you curious to find out what his new stuff sounds like (it’s got vocals for starters) Spin magazine are streaming it in it’s entirety here.

You can also check out one of the album’s tunes, F U C-3PO below:

You can also listen to and download a FREE copy of one of the album’s tunes, To Late To Topologise below:

It all sounds brilliant to me, with a greater focus on ‘songs’, as well as the gloriously textured loops, computerised gurgles and samples of old band, The Books.

You can pre-order a copy of the album here.
