Sin City sequel due next year

It’s been seven years since Sin City was released, and after years of speculation and rumour a sequel looks set to finally hit cinemas in 2013.

Co-directors, Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez have confirmed that Sin City 2 – officially known as Frank Miller’s Sin City: A Dame To Kill For will be released October next year with a script by Rodriguez and William Monahan (who also wrote the scripts for The Departed and Body of Lies).

The timing is perfect too – with Cannes just started, the Weinsteins now have the chance to build up the hype machine and confirm the release date and further details (like the rumoured returns of Jessica Alba, Rosario Dawson and Mickey Rourke perhaps – or Josh Brolin replacing Clive Owen as Dwight).

The Sin City sequel will start shooting later this summer in Texas, and will hit cinemas on 4th October next year.
