New Discovery – Stealing Sheep

Late last year a new Liverpool band called Stealing Sheep released a six track EP called Noah and The Paper Moon. I missed it first time around, but the hype that’s been building amidst the release of their debut album Into The Diamond Sun (it came out last week) has wobbled onto my radar over the past few days – and today I finally got round to listening to them.

The all-female three-piece are signed to Heavenly and their sound mixes up elements of lo-fi, psych-folk and DIY pop to create a delightfully mellow and mind expanding experience, all lovely vocal harmonies, spiraling guitars, and psychedelic synths. For a band who’ve been together less than two years it’s quite a feat.

Their current rise has been helped by 6music‘s Lauren Laverne, Steve Lamacq, Rob Da Bank, Jarvis Cocker and Tom Ravenscroft and the band have played a number of UK festivals this summer.

Check out the video for Into The Diamond Sun‘s second single Genevieve below:

Manchester’s Northern Quarter has it’s fair share of top quality graffiti and over the weekend a new design appeared in Stevenson Square.

The design is a brilliant portrait of Welsh actor Anthony Hopkins and it was designed by French artist Akse, who’s been based in Manchester since 1997. Check out the new graffiti below:

Flight Of The Conchords reunite for charity single

Flight Of The Conchords have reunited to release a new charity single called Feel Inside (And Stuff Like That).

Since Jermaine Clement and Brett McKenzie stopped making their Flight Of The Conchords show in 2009, both stars have gone on to achieve individual success in Hollywood, with Clement starring in this year’s Men In Black 3 and McKenzie writing the Oscar winning soundtrack to last year’s The Muppets film.

On Friday the duo released their new song for Red Nose Day: Comedy For Cure Kids. Check out the video for it below – warning there are lots of cute kids saying funny things in it:

Clement and McKenzie are currently midway through a Flight Of The Conchords comeback tour of New Zealand and Australia but there’s no news as yet as to whether a FOTC film is any closer to happening.

One things for sure, Rhys Darby who plays the duo’s hapless manager, Murray, is desperate for it to happen, recently stating, “Hopefully the guys will work on a Conchords film because the world deserves it. That’s up to them, because we’re all keen to do it. It’s about finding the time and the right story. All I can do is encourage them and then wait for the phone call.”

Feel Inside (And Stuff Like That) is available to buy from iTunes here.
