Fifth ‘Bourne’ film going ahead – and Matt Damon may be making a comeback too

After the quietly impressive box office performance of fourth ‘Bourne’ film, The Bourne Legacy (it took around $277m wordwide), this week strong hints were made that a fifth film will get the go ahead soon.

And not only that, Bourne fans, Matt Damon looks set to return too.

In a recent Hollywood Reporter interview, Universal Pictures chairman Adam Fogelson said, “I absolutely see us doing more ‘Bourne’, 100 percent yes.

“Matt has talked about the possibility of coming back, and we totally respect that and are excited if and when he wants to have conversations.”

“I think the last movie gave us a big bunch of options to pursue a next chapter”.

Universal studio execs seemed initially worried by the mixed reviews The Bourne Legacy got last Summer. But a strong box office returns have seemingly changed all that – as has Damon‘s recent revelation to Hollywood entertainment site, Deadline that he, “would love to do another one”.

Whether that’s alongside Jeremy Renner‘s Aaron Cross is unknown (it’d be great if they did team up though!).

It’s all a bit sketchy for now – but the right early noises seem to be being made…
