Martin Scorcese‘s forthcoming film, The Wolf of Wall Street seems well-timed given the ongoing financial despair circling the globe.
The film is set in the 90’s and follows the life of New York stockbroker, Jordan Belfort (Leonardo DiCaprio), who founded ‘boiler room’ brokerage firm Stratton Oakmont and became a multi-millionaire in the process. High on his own success (and Quaalewds) Belfort subsequently refused to cooperate in a large securities fraud case involving corruption on Wall Street and the corporate banking world, and ended up spending 22 months in jail.
Along with DiCaprio, the film also stars, Jonah Hill, Matthew McConaughey, Jon Favreau, Spike Jonze and (rather surprisingly) Britain’s very own Joanna Lumley.

The Wolf of Wall Street reaches US cinemas later this year, on the 15th November – and UK cinemas on the 17th January next year.
