Irvine Welsh’s ‘Filth’ film out this September

Filth is the latest novel by Irvine Welsh to get the film treatment. No Welsh adaptations since Trainspotting have really cut the mustard, but with James McAvoy in the lead role maybe this time he’ll have another hit on his hands.

Filth tells the story of a bipolar, bigoted junkie cop, Bruce Robertson (played by McAvoy), who “manipulates and hallucinates his way through the festive season in a bid to secure promotion and win back his wife and daughter.” The film also stars, amongst others, Jamie Bell, Imogen Poots, Eddie Marsden, Jim Broadbent and Shirley Henderson.

The film’s out on the 27th September and opens in Scotland (of course) – followed by a 4th October release in the rest of the UK – check out the trailer below:
