New trailer for Richard Ayoade’s ‘The Double’

The Double is the forthcoming second film from British director and funny man, Richard Ayoade. Loosely based on Fyodor Dostoevsky‘s 1846 novella of the same name, the film stars Jesse Eisenberg, Mia Wasikowska, Noah Taylor and Ayoade‘s partner in mirth from The IT Crowd, Chris O’Dowd.

The film’s synopsis is as follows – “Simon is a timid man, scratching out an isolated existence in an indifferent world. He is overlooked at work, scorned by his mother, and ignored by the woman of his dreams. He feels powerless to change any of these things. The arrival of a new co-worker, James, serves to upset the balance. James is both Simon’s exact physical double and his opposite – confident, charismatic and good with women. To Simon’s horror, James slowly starts taking over his life.”

I loved Ayoade‘s first feature film, Submarine, and have a soft spot for pretty much everything he does, whether it’s writing and starring in sitcoms and sketch shows, fronting gadget programmes, appearing on panel shows or directing stuff – so I’m really looking forward to his latest offering.
