Long After Tonight – The Last Days of the Twisted Wheel – a short film

The short film below shows the last soul sessions at a building on Whitworth Street in Manchester that was demolished in 2013 to make way for a German budget hotel. In the 1960s and early 1970s it was home to the Twisted Wheel, a legendary soul club that is considered to be the birth place of the Northern Soul movement. In 2000 dj Pete Roberts started a soul revival night under the Twisted Wheel name and ran it until the building closed in December 2012.

Manchester journalist, James Graham put the short film together, explaining  that he wanted to, “capture it before it vanishes forever”. Check out the film below:
