Zammuto – Great Equator – new video

I really enjoyed Books member, Nick Zammuto’s 2012 debut solo album. It’s experimental electronics fell just the right side of quirky for me, but it ended up flying under the radar somewhat.

New single, Great Equator, turns down his previous album’s heavily synthesised vocals for something a tad subtler. In fact it doesn’t really get going until the 2:04 mark, sounding a bit like a mellow cousin of something by The Notwist or The Postal Service. Then it goes all late 80’s acid house before drifting back into something altogether gentler, and then ending with a final verse of delightfully simple and melodic acidity. It’s bloody lovely.
