Blackthorn Festival 2015
This year’s Blackthorn Festival in Stockport unites a line-up of glorious Manchester nostalgia and indie-rock hedonism with an abundance of exciting up and coming bands.
Set in the scenic Cheshire countryside the festival’s third year of great music, good times and top quality nosh and booze looks set to carry on its fine tradition of mixing the old and the new.
For those longing to slip on their baggy jeans and beanie hats and party like its 1990 there’s melon twisting Manchester tribute acts like Happy Mondaze and The Clone Roses. There’s even the chance to plug in your mock hearing aids and sway arhythmically to The Smiths Ltd before testing out your best Manc shuffle to the sounds of DJ Clint Boon.
Headliners, The Enemy, bring their anthemic swashbuckling sound to put a smile on the faces of those who love a foot stomping slice of indie rock to go with their pints of cider.
Other up and coming acts on the bill that are real ‘must-sees’ include The Sunshine Underground, Delamere, Gramotones, Glass Tides and festival favourites The Tapestry and Cornelius Crane.
The festival takes place on the weekend of 24th-26th July at Whitebottom Farm in Compstall, Stockport and won’t break the bank account either. It’s a cracking chance to sing along to some classics, devour some great rural grub and booze and support some cracking new bands in the process. What’s not to love?
