Dunstan Doodles – Manchester Icons

Posted in Art, Culture, Music, Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , on November 20, 2015 by dc

Here’s a look at some of the Manchester Icons I’ve been creating portraits of over the past year. I have a few more finished now too (John Cooper Clarke, Les Dawson and Maxine Peake) and a couple more in the pipeline (Danny Boyle and Steve Coogan).

The vague plan is to exhibit them next summer somewhere in Manchester but in the meantime if you fancy a look at some of my other stuff or would like me to doodle for you, head over to Dunstan Doodles here.

Street artist Akse’s ‘Breaking Bad’ portraits

French street artist Akse, who’s been based in Manchester since 1997, is the one guy whose work I truly keep up with in the world of UK street art. It helps that a lot of his works regularly pop up near where I work in Manchester – but it’s not just convenient, his portraits are also absolutely brilliant.

Celebrities like Jack Nicholson, Christopher Walken and Anthony Hopkins have all been given the portrait treatment in and around the streets of Manchester, and now Akse has recently completed three Breaking Bad portraits, perfectly timed to fit in with the conclusion of the long running, critically acclaimed drama.

Check out Akse‘s Walter, Hank and Jesse portraits below – they’re stunning:
