New Alan Ball produced TV series ‘Banshee’ debuts next month

Most of the TV and film work associated with Alan Ball over the past decade and a bit, has been mightily impressive. He’s the man behind both Six Feet Under and True Blood and wrote the brilliant American Beauty script (which won Ball the Best Original Screenplay Oscar back in 2000).

All this means the forthcoming American TV series Banshee (which Alan Ball is an Executive Producer on) comes with a fair amount of expectation and hype.

The series is set in a small town in Pennsylvania (Amish country) and features an enigmatic ex-con/martial arts expert posing as a murdered sheriff who imposes his own brand of justice while also cooking up plans that serve his own interests. The newly released trailer looks pretty good, but it’s tough to guess exactly what it’ll turn out like. You’ll also need to try and ignore the rather dodgy cover of Ian Brown‘s F.E.A.R. which soundtracks the clip – check it out below:

Banshee debuts on HBO-owned channel Cinemax on Friday 11th January next year. It’s not yet known when it’ll appear over here in Blighty.
